Why Does Your Boiler Burner Oscillate During Operation?

 

     Furnace wall oscillation caused by combustion dynamics is unavoidable, requiring the furnace wall to be rigid. The function of rigid beams is to protect the furnace and flue from damage under furnace operating pressure or under deflagration conditions. This is achieved by adding rigid beams to improve furnace wall rigidity.

    A running burner undergoes a process of heat and cooling exchange. This process can cause oscillation. Generally, the hot flue gas in the furnace can reach temperatures as high as 800°C to 1000°C. The combustion-supporting gas should be high-temperature gas turbine exhaust at 500°C, while the air currently used in boiler combustion is only 25°C to 50°C, providing ample potential for oscillation.

    The inner side of the furnace wall is subject to the dynamic pressure of the furnace gas flow field, while the outer side is subject to atmospheric pressure. Fluctuations in the furnace gas flow pressure promote furnace wall oscillation. In actual production, large fluctuations in boiler gas pressure can lead to unstable combustion, large fluctuations in furnace negative pressure, and frequent changes in the pressure differential between the inside and outside, causing boiler wall oscillation. It is necessary to modify the natural frequency of the boiler burner and the frequency of the vortex generated by combustion at the burner throat perimeter. To prevent flame oscillation from inducing low-frequency oscillations in the flue gas column, the burner structure and combustion conditions must be improved. First, ensure that the flame's ignition front is stable, the combustible gas jet expands into a hollow cone, and draws in a sufficient amount of high-temperature flue gas recirculation. Modify the natural frequency of combustion within the furnace, such as by modifying double-sided water-cooled walls, large screens, or horizontal superheaters. Improve the air register and bellows structure, such as by installing a flame stabilizer or air distribution baffle. Rationally design and arrange the flue gas recirculation inlet and control methods to prevent abnormalities such as flue gas short-circuiting. Ensure that the boiler's burners have corresponding rotation directions to create a uniform upward flow field. This will reduce the occurrence of oscillation in the Painonio burner.
